(0:00) Hi and welcome to Advantage Point. I am Tracy, your host, and today we're talking about defining (0:08) two-state discipline. You can say get cleared with what you want is another way of saying it.(0:15) Manifestation these days is searched and it's up 600 percent from last year. People are wanting (0:26) to know how can I magically make things happen. You can magically make things happen by working (0:33) from within and that is how this works, all right? And my podcast here, I talk about (0:44) Advantage Point.You have an advantage over your life in order to elevate it, get to where you want (0:51) to go. Manifest your dreams by utilizing these nine mastery steps. Awareness.You want to be (1:03) very aware of who you are and what is going on, right? Once you have gotten clear with who you are, (1:11) where you are in your life, you are then able to define and get clearer on what you want (1:19) to stay disciplined, to stay focused. It is so important to understand that (1:27) if you don't know what you're working toward, you will find yourself quitting before you ever (1:37) begin. You will find it difficult.You will find it exhausting because you did not basically (1:54) associate it. When we say, okay, I'm tired of being on the hamster wheel or there was a pain (2:04) point of you had a relative, a loved one, what have you, who was given a diagnosis of, say, (2:14) lung cancer and you smoke. You're like, okay, that was it.That was the straw that broke the (2:22) camel's back. I am definitely done with this situation. I am taking control of this and I (2:28) am going to work hard every single day not to focus on smoking, right? What are those triggers (2:39) that cause you to smoke? Is it because your friends smoke or that you drink or is it just (2:46) a habit of just a hand to mouth kind of situation? What is it, right? When you decide that you're (2:53) going to stop doing something, your brain goes into the question of why.You're wanting to define. (2:59) This is my pain point. I'm done with this.Then your brain goes into, okay, why are you stopping? (3:09) Why am I stopping? I mean, my cousin's brain is lung cancer or I want more money in my life. (3:19) I want to level up. I want this job.I'm going to work on my education. I'm going to work on (3:26) what I need to do to get this job. What are the requirements of getting this job, right? (3:31) What are the requirements of becoming the greatest YouTuber on the planet? (3:36) What is typically done? What do other YouTubers look like, right? We start studying because that's (3:43) when our brain starts going, okay, what is the why? Then things start coming to you and dropping into (3:48) your vortex of the what in which you're looking for.You'll start noticing that you'll (4:01) start getting aligned with your goal. You'll start seeing advertisements for weight loss or (4:07) advertisements for a personal trainer that has a great deal that's within your budget. (4:13) You'll start seeing those classes that you need to fulfill the job(4:18) that you want to level up your life a little bit financially.(4:22) You will start becoming more in alignment with your goal. Once you get very clear, (4:32) for instance, you want to make money. However, this is what you don't do.You want to make money (4:41) and you focus on the money. Then you focus on the how. Then you're so tied up in the how (4:48) and on the content that will make you that money happen.For instance, a book. (4:55) You are writing the book, right? You're writing the book and you are like, okay, (5:02) this is exactly what I want to do. Everything's going great.But then you start worrying about (5:08) the how. Like, oh, how am I going to get it published? You've taken your focus off of the (5:15) content and on the way up way, way, way on the end game of the how. Who's going to publish? Well, (5:22) how's it going to happen? How am I going to make this money? You start getting worried.(5:25) You have anxiety and then fear creeps in. Then you find yourself not doing what you should be (5:33) and that's creating the content on the page. So you have to refocus and stay disciplined(5:41) because your definition, what you have to find is, I am going to write this book.Brain goes, why? (5:50) You answer, because I want to help millions of people because I went through this pain point (5:58) and I want to help others, kind of help them go through that pain point, which is I have found (6:06) out that a lot of people go through this. Or I have learned this in my MBA program and, (6:12) or I'm an athlete. That's why I wrote Advantage Point.These goal-oriented, setting, (6:18) defining, so you can elevate your life. And it's through an athlete's eyes (6:25) and an entrepreneurial soul that this book was designed to help you elevate your life (6:32) because I have gone through it and I hope that this helps you. Therefore, (6:41) you have to get very clear.For the longest time, I was almost like I was confused on how to get (6:46) clear. I was like, of course I know what I want. I'm going to be a millionaire.Well, okay. I didn't (6:50) align with the question of the brain asking the why until I took some courses at Chicago (6:58) University and I took some courses from a neuroscientist and I learned about how the (7:04) brain actually operates and what it does and why. And why it's important to stay curious and (7:13) how does the brain search for information and how does it come into the vortex? All this was (7:18) explained and it was very fascinating.Our brain is constantly trying to problem solve. (7:24) So, I was, you know, reading about German Shepherds one day, which is they need toys (7:29) that are problem solving toys because they're working dogs. Well, we're people who work.(7:35) So, we need measurements that, we need, we need, I guess, problems, if you will. We look at our (7:44) life and we try to find those solutions. So, we look for the tools to problem solve.Well, (7:50) our brain is one of those problem solving tools. We have an analytical side and a creative side. (7:57) And yes, we do work analytically and we work creatively.Some people are more so creatively (8:03) and some are more so analytically or, you know, the rational people, those who, (8:10) math and science-y people versus, you know, more art chefs, people who are more on the creative (8:18) side that, that really work kind of like on a tactile situation, a learning process. (8:27) So, then it's really important to understand how you learn. Who, who are you and how do you learn? (8:33) A lot of people do not learn the traditional way of sitting down and doing math problems.(8:38) But I have talked to so many people as to why I designed Neutronomi. I did the way I did,(8:45) is because it teaches the traditional, the traditional school methods in a non-traditional(8:52) way through culinary. A lot of people that I talk to, they go, I get it now with the math stuff(8:59) because this is how, that's how they learn.They learn best by seeing it visually in front of them. (9:07) And actually playing it out more so, creative side. (9:13) So, we need to understand who we are.That's the whole point of the first chapter of awareness, (9:17) to understand how you actually define. You want to be better in time management. What do you do? (9:23) You go, okay, why do I want to be better in time management? Probably because I've pissed (9:27) some people off by being late.I've lost a couple of jobs. I want to be more responsible. I need (9:35) to be taken more seriously.People find me blighty. There's a lot of reasons as to why (9:41) you need time management. One, it's less stressful.Because when you are on time somewhere, (9:49) I call being on time 15 minutes early. There are times where I have been late. Yes, (9:56) I don't make excuses.I simply say, I didn't manage my time properly. (10:02) Because the bottom line is, that's exactly what happened. I put something in front of (10:08) something else that was not a part of my day, trying to squeeze it in, and it made me late.(10:16) And that is what happens. You know, some things do happen, such as the car or the kids or the, (10:23) you throw up all of a sudden. And you can say, but don't blame it on my kids, on my car.More so, (10:33) life threw me a wrench today, and my car decided to bark back. So I apologize for my tardiness. (10:42) This is not my norm.Keep it general. Keep it light. Keep it slightly comical, but serious (10:55) at the same time, that you know their time is precious, and you apologize.And if you find that (11:01) you're going to be late, contact that person immediately, and say, hey, universe threw a (11:07) wrench in my day. This is what's happened. Universe threw a wrench in my day.They don't need to know (11:12) details. But I do need to reschedule with you. I apologize.You are the most important person to me. (11:20) And unfortunately, I, whatever, my child needs me. It just, you know, your priorities, right? (11:34) I've had the vehicle do not what I want it to do, and I've called an Uber and still got there.(11:41) So we will do what we need to do to get where we need to be, right? (11:46) It's just how bad do you want to get there? Or safety. You know, there's some reasons you just (11:52) can't. Point being is that you need to communicate.Communicate effectively is very, very important. (12:02) So you do need to know, and awareness also is the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, (12:08) and threats. The strengths and weaknesses is an internal list that you would create.(12:16) Making yourself more aware of who you are. And the opportunities are external as to what's out (12:25) there to help you work with your weaknesses and, you know, keep, maintain your strength. (12:34) And work towards your strengths and, you know, fine tune and basically help the weaknesses that (12:46) are bringing down, like time management.So with time management, I talk about, (12:54) like there's a whole thing about how to make it work for you. You have, like in your finances, (13:02) you have things that are a constant, you know, your rent, your mortgage, things that are flat. (13:11) You know, they're every single month that this is what you have to pay.(13:17) And utilities, rent, water, whatever, you know what they are. Then you have things that are(13:23) kind of flex. You have groceries, you know, you have to pay them.It's good to have like a budget (13:28) of how much is your set amount. You have an emergency, you have insurance, it's a solid (13:35) amount every month. Your emergency might be a solid amount every month that you put, you know, (13:40) to the side.So you know what that looks like. And if your budgeting or finances is one of your (13:47) weaknesses, then it would be good to find out what those opportunities are in your community.(13:54) There's professionals out there that can help you navigate.The library has great (14:04) strategies, classes. There's stuff in your community. And the library is a great place to start (14:12) that has these particular opportunities.Even your job, your workplace has, especially if you (14:18) work for a large company, they do have stuff you just talk to with your HR. (14:25) But you, just like with your finances, you have set things, you have meetings, (14:29) you've got to go pick up your kids. Can't leave them at school and they magically get home.That's (14:36) not how it works. You have a time that you have to be at work or at your desk. If you work from home, (14:43) you have a time where you, so on and so forth.One of my weaknesses was consistency of dinner. (14:51) Because for myself, I would have so many things get in front of it. And my daughter having autism (15:01) and being a child, security happens.And they actually, it helps their growth process (15:09) is when they feel secure. You'll actually see their behavior change too. (15:16) Kids like boundaries.Matter of fact, they do. We like boundaries. We like to know when we go (15:22) in someplace that there's a set of rules or boundaries that we are to have, to have an (15:29) organized structure of safety.Bottom line. Time is no different. By creating a time and then (15:42) working backwards.So whatever that situation would be like, I finally have it to where (15:50) if I don't teach a culinary class, we eat at actually kind of an early dinner at 3.30. (16:00) And if I don't have class, we eat at six. But then what I have found that we do best (16:07) is that we now just eat dinner at 4.30. And that has found the sweet spot. So it's not inconsistent.(16:19) Inconsistency can unravel anything. And it can definitely unravel the mind. (16:30) Another thing that is when you're trying, when you're trying to get clear on what you want, (16:37) you can't get clear and define what you want if your house is a mess.(16:45) One thing I had a client do one time is I suggested that they put a date on their calendar(16:53) that they were going to hire a housekeeping service to come in and clean their house.(16:59) But they had to first do a toss, keep, and sell method. I was like, this is what you got to do.(17:13) You have to clean your house. They didn't even have a place where you could actually(17:19) cook. And one of the things that this person wanted to do is they wanted to do family dinners, (17:27) family eating times, and also wanted to eat healthier.You can't eat healthy. You can't (17:34) have family time if you do not have a designated kitchen and it looks like a storage closet. (17:40) You have to fix this.You can't fix external stuff is when your external stuff looks like (17:47) internal stuff. It mirrors you. Therefore, you need to start fixing this external stuff.(17:56) So it starts mirroring and you actually start feeling better when you throw something away.(18:02) Oh gosh, I feel great when I throw something away. Very minuscule, but helpful.It's important to (18:19) know where you are in your life in order to define. Who are you? Be aware of who you are (18:33) so that you can define where you want to go. In order to define where you want to go, (18:44) you have to remove some of that clutter in your house.That's cluttering your mind as well. (18:49) I can't think clear with clutter everywhere. I know I can.I know you can't. In order to manifest (18:58) what you want, you have to get clear on the why you want to actually do it. (19:07) I want to write a book.Why? Because I want to make millions of dollars. Crap. You will never (19:15) write a stupid book.You will not be a successful author because that's so far the end game. (19:26) Then you start thinking about how you're going to make money. How you're going to get where you (19:34) need to go.That you're going to lose sight of writing the actual book. You're going to lose (19:44) sight on any of it. Your goal cannot manifest if your brain doesn't understand the why.(19:57) Why do you want to lose weight? This is fun, eating whatever I want to eat and not care(20:03) and feel like I have control when actually I don't. It feels great to eat sweets all day long.(20:12) Makes you feel good.That's what your brain's telling you. Makes you feel good. Why would you (20:15) want to give this up? Why? Because I am not healthy and need to do this because my body is shutting (20:28) down.That's why. Then you have a reference point. The brain has a reference point of when you go to(20:36) eat whatever is causing the problem or consume whatever's causing the problem.Your brain goes, (20:45) whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't do that. Remember what we said? Remember what the problem is? (20:52) If you drink that, if you eat that, you're just going to continue being in that place where you (20:58) don't need to be.There's an emotional, there's an emotion to it. The brain says why? You have (21:04) an emotional reason why not do it and you want to focus on what that pain would feel like if you (21:14) went back to what you were doing. Doesn't feel great and we want to feel great.We want to elevate. (21:21) We want to glow up, right? So just remember this main step. Define what you want (21:35) by asking the question, why? Why do you want it? Not how you're going to get it.Why do you want it? (21:44) What are you going to do to achieve it? And it will begin to manifest right before your eyes. (21:54) It has to focus on you, what you want, not on what you don't want. We focus and put the energy (22:03) on what we do want.It grows. It expands. It has to.It's science.
